This is the documentation created for this Tool:

ArenaNet Cinematics Simplify Keys Slider

Intro

This is a tool currently available in the Cinematics Shelf/Toolbar in Maya 2018 and 2014. This is a curve optimization tool that replaces the UI on Maya's Simplify Keys Window with a slider. The slider will adjust keys in the time range between the first and last key selected, for each curve, on each object that is selected. A buffer curve is created on launch, and the tool operates on this buffer curve.

If Needed, the tool can be launched by the Arch Hotkey command: my.core.codex.runTool(my.core.codex.get('Cinematics_SimplifyKeys'))

Re-Acquire Selected Keys

The tool works on the time range keys selected when the tool is first opened, but if the selection has changed, you can re-acquire by hitting the "Re-Acquire selected Keys" button. This will take a new snapshot of the selected curves.

The examples below have Keys on every single frame before simplification:

Time Tolerance

Optimize based on Time Values.

Value Tolerance

Optimize based on Key Value. Time Tolerance must be greater than 0.0 for there to be a change.

Toggle Buffer Curves

Show the original acquired buffer curve while optimizing.
