Purple Sage 4th and 5th grade Art Club worked on this mural for two years between 1999-2001. The kids researched butterflies from all over the world and chose one for their own design. I arranged the layout of the continents. The kids enlarged and drew the mural on the 4'x8' wood panels using transparencies of their work with a projector and painted the background and the butterflies. Adult volunteers painted the buildings and some of the highlights/shadows on the landforms.
